Why urea is the hero
Urea is one of the most underrated ingredients in cosmetics. Below 5% it works as a humectant — drawing water into the stratum corneum. Above 5%, it shifts to keratolytic — gently softening the dense outer layer of calloused or thickened skin. We use 8% to do both, with marula oil providing the lipid buffer that prevents urea from drying skin out.
A note on the bottle
This product comes in a 75ml mono-aluminium tube — recyclable, doesn’t oxidise the urea, fits in a coat pocket. The outer Karoo Capsule is included for the first purchase; refills ship in the tube alone.
How to use
Apply a small amount to clean, dry hands. Massage into nails, cuticles, and the backs of hands. Reapply through the day as needed.
When not to use
If you have severely cracked or bleeding skin, urea may sting on first application — this passes within 24 hours of consistent use. Patch test if uncertain.
